Fit For A Cause To Save The Daffodil Festival

In case you haven’t heard there is a 75 year old Pierce County tradition that needs help.  The Daffodil Festival has come upon some tough financial times…but nothing to big for our FFC2 Team.  The festival provides scholarships to local area high school young ladies and produces the Daffodil Parade each year…every year…for the last 75 years.  And 2009 may be different.

Donations have softened up.  Costs have risen.  And the Daffodil Festival needs at least $60,000 by the end of this year to ensure a parade for 2009.  Enter Fit For A Cause II – FFC2 for short.

Mark your calendars for October 4th, 2008.  Get a car.  Truck. Motorcyle.  A $20.00 bill.  And and much food as you can bring.  And get ready to make history.  Because FFC2 is going to save the Daffodil Festival.

We are going to have a parade of our own! -

At 8:00 am we want you to go to either Frontier Park in Graham or South Hill Mall in Puyallup.  Don’t go alone.  This only works if you call 10-20 people and have them do the same.  Load up a bag of groceries…or two…or a trunkload along with your $20.00 and head to one of these two starting points.

At 9:15 am the fun begins.  The group at Frontier Park in Graham will depart and head North down Meridian to pick up the South Hill Mall group.  Don’t worry about traffic issues.  We’ll have a police escort! From the South Hill Mall we’ll head for our final destination at Cheney Stadium. THANKS TO THE TACOMA RAINIERS – YOU GUYS ROCK.  At Cheney Stadium you’ll find smiling Daffodilians collecting your $20.00 donations while another group of volunteers unloads your food items that will be donated to The Emergency Food Network. That’s right…at the same time we are saving the Daffodil Festival we’ll be collecting THOUSANDS of pounds of food for our Pierce County Food Banks.

Here’s where we need your help TODAY.  We need to spread the word to EVERYONE we can.  Who do you know?  Who can you bring?  What large groups do you have access too? Kiwanis? Rotary? High Schools? Biker clubs? Car Clubs?

We need 5,000 cars, trucks, bikes…to rally with us at Cheney Stadium with a $20.00 donation.  That’s $100,000 in ONE DAY.  My gut feeling is we’ll have in excess of 5,000…and many people will donate $25.00 or $30.00 or more.

Who is going to save a 75 year old Pierce County Tradition?  FFC2.  Who is FFC2?  You are!  Consider yourself “deputized” into the FFC2 Team.  And don’t forget to watch as our official FFC2 weight loss contestants compete each week to lose weight and get healthy.  Our last group lost 793 lbs!  I think FFC2 contestants will lose 1200 lbs.  Just keep watching to see if I am right.

  1. Is it actually a donation, or a required fee? I was told it was a free event. My brothers are performing at the event and we have a lot of the family coming to support them, but we have no way to pay the $20.00 to get in.

TOTALLY 100% FREE – WE ARE ONLY COLLECTING DONATIONS
